NYT: Capitol Police Officer Dies From Injuries in Pro-Trump Rampage... The death of the officer, Brian D. Sicknick, appeared likely to lead to calls for profound changes to the Capitol Police, a centuries-old force.

Sicknick, 42, died Thursday, a day after collapsing when he returned to his division office following the attack on the Capitol, according to the USCP, which said he was injured “while physically engaging with protesters.”
Meanwhile, Sicknick’s family is asking others to stop making his death a political issue. Unfortunately, few seem to be listening.
In a statement released by the family, they say that “many details regarding Wednesday’s events and the direct causes of Brian’s injuries remain unknown and our family asks the public and the press to respect our wishes in not making Brian’s passing a political issue.”
Capitol Police say that Sicknick did respond to Wednesday’s riots outside the Capitol but had returned to his office before collapsing.
He was taken to a hospital, where he died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.
Sources familiar with the incident believe that Sicknick’s death was driven by a medical condition.

I also saw the video of the officer being crushed. And the video of the three officers being beaten. Regarding the (as yet) unidentified officers, "as they pulled the officer down the stairs, face down, another rioter beat him with an American flag as the mob chanted USA! USA! USA! ... One of the two dragged officers can be seen in another video standing up before being mobbed and punched".
lol! My position is that the Capitol Police don't need to "compete" with the protestors for Victimhood Status. He deserves his "line of duty" benefits, but he'll get them regardless of what caused his death, injuries sustained OR a pre-existing medical condition.

I had no idea his family set up a GoFundMe. Although if his family needs assistance, I don't know how that is "stupidity". Now you don't like the police?
