I'm proposing that we, like the church, have an "acta non verba" standard for officials when it comes to oversight.
So before we shift more local "oversight powers" to DC from our local authorities, we should ask ourselves, "how have they performed in the past?" How'd Johnson's War on Poverty go? How many of the nations poor beat poverty? How'd the war on drugs go? How are kids doing in schools? Are they scoring higher on tests than in the past, or lower? How has the DoJ done when it comes to prosecuting Democrats vs. Republicans?
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
It applies to Government and the Media. Both have proven themselves "untrustworthy".
The Founders answer to that question , "who will watch the watchers" is "us!"
We don't need the federal government to watch state governments, cuz we can vote either or both out. We are the watchers. And AoW, I'm sure you'd agree, is one who is Always on Watch.
